Fenchurch Bottletop Bag Collaboration
In July of this year we were impressed with Rubbish Bags, made by a co-operative of Filipino women wanting to clean up their neighbourhood. Now, UK charity Bottletop has teamed up with British brand Fenchurch to bring us the, rather aptly named, Bottletop Fenchurch Bag.

Bottletop fund projects which aim to have a positive impact on young people worldwide, paying particular attention to sexual and reproductive health education. In 2002 they had great success with the Mulberry Bottletop Bag, which was sold in Mulberry stores, and now they’re hoping to repeat this success. The charity has earned itself a wide-ranging fan-base, from Justin Timberlake to Bill Clinton who, quite rightly, called the project “a wonderful and innovative way to stop the spread of deadly disease”.
The Fenchurch version is a cross-body bag made entirely from recycled ring pulls and is a mite more unisex than the Mulberry handbag. It’s manufactured in Brazil by a female-based cooperative, as Bottletop are also dedicated to providing incomes to local people. The bag comes in three colours: £49.99 for the silver or yellow and £74.99 for the multi-coloured option and is available from Saturday 1st December at the London Fenchurch store on Monmouth Street, Covent Garden. But hurry because, as with anything this good, there’s limited availability.
For anyone who can’t get their hands on a bag, and doesn’t have a big enough collection of bottle tops to start fashioning their own, an album, ‘Sound Effects of Brazil’, has been made as part of the campaign and it features remixes from Fatboy Slim and Get Cape Wear Cape Fly amongst others.
