“His and Hers” Christmas Ethical Smellies

Thankfully there are still some wonderful shops left in London that stay and stay true. Neal’s Yard Remedies in Covent Garden is one of my earliest memories and holistic shopping experiences that I can remember, when I first moved to London. I was 19 and one things for sure I am not 21 now….. So we are going back some. My keen nose has been hovering over the essential oils in this shop for many years; so when Marian mentioned a press evening and a treatment my nostrils were flaring with excitement.

On arrival we were treated and greeted to a mulled wine – no good for me as I am of the booze at the moment, in order to be able to cope with the Christmas drinks celebrations that will soon be upon. Then I was told about a new holistic gift therapist service that was being offered. An expert puts together a bespoke package of Neal’s Yard goodies relating to the age, wellbeing and lifestyle of the person you are buying for. Liked the sound of it and decided to do one for my squeeze, who also shares a love of all things holistic.

Whilst waiting for the gift therapist, I had my free treatment which was a hand massage given by a lovely woman called Katie. She told me she had studied cosmetic science at LCF and I was so in awe! Because, you know, when you have one of those moments, if I wasn’t doing this I would be doing that. Natural cosmetics and perfumes are two areas I would love to know more about, how to design lotions and potions. What a fab job that would be. ? And being Prime Minster of course!

Back to real life. Earlier that day I had been art directing and styling a pitch test shot for Doc Martens and felt a bit frazzled from the fun and hysteria during the test. Relieved it was finished as I only received the brief two days before the deadline! (Ohh poor me and my hard fashion life). So, as much I was keen to hang out and test the Holistic gift service, I opted to leave for destination sofa and was offered a gift box “The Gift of Radiance”, a really girly flowery face treat. After chatting to the PR I mentioned I was interested in what was on offer for the boys as they usually get so left out at Christmas. She gave me another box “The Gift of Comfort” full of shaving treats for my fella. Oh the joys of ethical “His and Hers” beauty products on Christmas day.

Got another freebie gift in a bag full of goodies promoting shopping at Seven Dials from Coco de Mer the sassy ethical sex shop, founded by Sam Roddick. My fella will definitely think all his ethical Christmas’s have all come at once, Happy Ethical Everybody!
