AFW Day 5 - roundup
Sun, 27/04/2008 - 11:57am

It was a blinding end to Alternative Fashion Week 2008 with some really strong collections. Linzie Elliot's 'Best of British' features spray painted animals in homage to Banksy and antique Union Jack flags turned into Rule Brittania style dresses accessorised with pheasant feathers and walking sticks.
No it's not Elvis it's designer Ricardo Ramos
Designer Wayne Bailey
We also loved Jasmin Frei's architectural garments: grey tweed with orange screen-printed panels, pleated playfully. Wayne Bailey from Manchester delivered a credible collection of menswear and womenswear with snail details! The last collection was an all-dancing Colombian affair by London-based Ricardo Ramos - we had to do a double take as he looks uncannily like an Elvis impersonator! At about 2.30pm the tents and catwalk started to be dismantled, and not long after this there was no evidence of the thronging mass of bodies and outfits that was Alternative Fashion Week 2008!
A big thanks to Maggie Pinhorn and all the crew incuding press officer Amy and the crucial behind-the-scenes crew Ali, Carolyn and Bee. MB Films have been a joy to work with and we appreciate all the great work that they along with snappers Paul Tait and John Adrian have contributed. We've had a great AFW, from lurid latex to delicate wool creations, we've seen a huge variety of inspiring and challenging outfits.
