Beetle from the Zoo

Well I've been back at uni for two weeks now and it's all go!
My concept / inspiration for my final collection is bugs and beetles so since I've been back I've been mainly drawing and collecting images of them. As I said in an earlier blog, I've got about 30 beetles / bugs in glass which has been good to be able to draw from 3D and looks great in my workspace too.
Our main task so far is to collate all of our research from the summer onto our workspace, and begin a sketchbook. I will have to do many sketchbooks over the year, so I've been advised to start an 'ideas' book now, then let them develop and evolve as the year goes on. In this I will be putting some images of my concept, but mainly drawings and ideas for where it could go. Also colours and fabrics will be apparent.
I have also been sourcing fabric samples. Fabric choice will inform designing and can totally change ideas so it's important to have an idea of the fabric I'll use, I'm looking at leathers at the moment.
Also handed in my first draft of my dissertation yesterday, I have a naive hope that my tutor will say it's great and I don't have to change a thing but I know I'm going to have to re-do most of it!!
Right, I'm off to draw more beetles!....
