Make music from a Red Bull can and win a day in a studio or £1000 in cash

In March 2008 Red Bull energy drink launched ‘Red Bull Can Make Music’, a creativity contest that challenges everyone to make and build a unique piece of music using only a Red Bull can.

This is a competition to create the most individual and cleverly constructed piece of music. Tracks can be made, recorded and uploaded from scratch or created by arranging the pre-programmed can sounds on the online sequencer. Whether you flick it, crush it, bend it or tear it, the possibilities are endless. Just release your inner creativity and let your imagination do the work.

Supported and judged by music heavyweights and Red Bull Music Academy alumni DJ Zinc, Zed Bias and Tony Nwachukwu, entries will be scored on creative concept: individuality and ingenuity and conceptual execution: composition and construction.

The creator of the winning track will get to spend a day in the studio with a producer of their choice (cash alternative prize of £1000). In addition the top entrants will be invited to London for an exclusive showcase party where the winner will be announced by the judges.

There are sample tracks on the website to get you inspired and the online sequencer has been created with the help of the Red Bull ambassadors (see below)

The competition has come about because judges of the Red Bull Art of Can competition in 2005 were overawed when one entrant turned the can into a musical instrument. You can also vote for your favourite tracks and comment on them.

TONY NWACHUKWU
Tony Nwachukwu is a modern day maverick. He is known to many as the producer, beat programmer and keyboard player of Attica Blues; who apart from releasing two groundbreaking albums ‘blueprint’ (Mo’Wax) and ‘Test Don’t Test (Sony/Higher Ground) is known to have extended his talents as a remixer to artists as diverse as Macy Gray, U.N.K.L.E, Robert Owens and DJ Cam

ZED BIAS
Zed Bias is a producer and DJ from deep within the UK dance music scene. He scored his first top 30 track with 'Neighbourhood' before setting the blueprint for the darker UK Garage sound at the end of the 90s. He was asked to mix the definitive "Sound of the Pirates" compilation and at this time began to infuse a jazzier influence into his tracks. Alongside remixes for Whitney Houston, Destiny's Child, The Streets, Kosheen and Gabrielle, Zed was instrumental in the formation of an alternative urban scene. In 2001 he was nominated for 'Best Garage Act' at the MOBO Awards

DJ ZINC
DJ Zinc is renowned for both his skills as a DJ and for the quality of his productions and remixes. He rose to prominence in the period of drum and bass production dominated by the hip-hop influenced Jump Up style, although he has continually positioned himself at the cutting edge of the music by embracing a variety of styles in his versatile DJ sets.

I wish i could do this. I'd love to have a day in the studio with DJ Zinc, would be amazing

Does anyone know the closing date ?

June 1st 2008
