Sharkah Chakra was launched in September 2007 by Sara Simmonds, a former denim buyer for Harvey Nichols, who is dedicated to producing the finest quality denim jeans which are both ethically and environmentally sound.

The label's supply chain has Fairtrade accreditation and uses organic cotton from West Africa which is hand cut and hand woven in India. The signature of the master weaver responsible for each pair of jeans can be found on the fabric itself and the Sharkah Charkra rivet is made from 9 carat recycled plated gold. Sara's mission is to produce ethical jeans that last a lifetime: Sharkah Chakra means 'hand made life' and stockists include Harvey Nichols, Matches, Liberty and Browns.

This summer, Sharkah Chakra releases the first ever totally organic and 100% bleach free white jeans. These are made from beautiful organic denim and are hand-woven on original selvedge looms, then naturally sun-baked in the Indian sunshine and finished in Italy. The natural sun-baking gives them a gorgeous soft white finish putting them in a class of their own compared to the harsh chemical whites of some other jeans. Each pair of jeans takes 250 days to craft. They are cut straight from the thigh and feature classic red and white selvedge detailed on the inside seam and inside fly.
