Bora turns footwear into waistwear

Mr Aksu we salute you. When you transformed Converse All Stars into fantastic canvas boots for 2004's Disciples collection, we were among those people in the audience who nearly fell off our chairs trying to check out the details of those stomping creations.
Unfortunately, those boots never went into production so we left yearning. Now Turkish-born Bora, who graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2002 with a distinction for his MA, is busy reworking Converse footwear into waistwear for September's London Fashion Week showing of his spring/summer 2007 collection.
Belts and Bora seem made for each other. His crafty ability to manipulate leather has already produced many fine pieces in previous collections and we've stood up and said before that if belts are your thing, you have to check out Bora's. So we are hopeful that this designer is going to create something compelling and different. So far, we're told that he is enjoying experimenting with Converse fabrics and excited by the idea of turning what is traditionally footwear into belts and waist decorations. To that we can add confidentially that Bora will work the seams, tease the cloth and transform all manner of Converse into desirable accessories. Just hope this accessory collection isn't catwalk-only and can also be bought.
