Style Wars: The London Battle

Style Wars: The London Battle
Style Wars 2009 is an international tour testing the wits and talents of designers and it hits London on May 27th at Proud Gallery in Camden. Initiated by the innovative corrupters of couture and explorers of instant style, the House of Diehl, the evening will challenge 8 London-based designers to create outfits in 5 minutes from a selection of secondhand clothes, raw materials and odds and ends.
No pattern cutters, no toiles, no time to think beyond instinct. This is ripping, tearing, taping, draping rapid design that takes place in front of the audience's eyes. It's a full on music meets audience reaction and backstage is brought to front stage. House of Diehl first brought its Instant Couture concept to London in 2002 to Brick Lane (see here http://www.widemedia.com/fashionuk/fashion/house_of_diehl/). The contest has now gone global with events in Johannesburg, Buenos Aires and Hong Kong. Which designer can woo the crowd and impress the judges with live creations. The winner will bag a Vespa and a trip to New York, but whoever wins the spectacle is bound to inspire.
Tickets cost £10: www.houseofdiehl.com
