London Fashion Week A/W 2006

Welcome to our coverage of the London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2006 shows. This season, we proudly present our most comprehensive reportage to date with thousands of photographs, dozens of catwalk reports, and for the first time, podcast interviews with the designers and key, behind-the-scenes fashion folk.

We were inspired and injected with hope by all the new names showing and also all the blossoming talents of those we've seen other seasons: designers like Bora Aksu and Jean-Pierre Braganza who just get better and better.

Marian managed to find time to snap a few shots backstage and out & about, while Judith shot some of the LFW characters doing their fashion thing.

So, enjoy the feast! Here's our highlights and lowlights to get you started:

High Low

Day 1

Laura Lees
Laura Lees - "informal and informative", commented Bianca, "a really refreshing start to LFW".

Skirts at Robert Cary-Williams
Tailoring at Erdem
MAN, especially Deryck Walker's debut
Fur - come on Ms Koshino, RCW and Erdem you are above this surely! It made us feel sick.

Day 2

Aganovich and YungAganovich and Yung - brilliant second showing.
John Rocha - truly beautiful.
Karen Walker - we love her.
Jean-Pierre Branganza - aw06 menswear is just as strong as his womenswear.
Mobility! The official bus is really difficult for Bianca to get to and despite her obvious injury, certain people just didn't care.

Day 3

Basso & BrookeAvshalom Gur - an amazing catwalk debut.
Basso & Brooke - words fail us, look at the pictures, listen to the podcast.

Technical problems with podcast (thanks Julian Roberts, lifesaver geezer) PLUS Losing our main snapper David for the day (thanks Judith for standing-in).

Day 4

Bora AksuBora Aksu - Sherwood meets Shoreditch, a fantastic collection
Weardowney - this pair is cooking on gas: listen to the podcast
!
Fashion East - really enjoyed the Dutch duo Spijkers en Spijkers second showing.
PPQ- technicoloured London with inspirational music.

Not receiving invitations to Peter Jensen's show - we would have loved to have been there.
We didn't get to do a podcast interview with Bora - have to catch-up soon.

Day 5

B Storeb store presentation - new location, great selection of stock.
Katarzyna Szczotarska - really impressive, passionate collection (plus she played The Streets AND Johnny Cash).
Ashish - wowsers trousers, the fabrics shone like a sky full of stars and what a nice man (listen to the podcast).

B-Rude - great fun with very good looking male models.

Transport meltdown! Official bus got stuck in the Muslim Demonstration - so show start times were delayed even further. Plus, Bianca's 'mission impossible' journey to get to SW7. Technicals again - overcome by recording on phones, digi cams etc.. You gotta be resourceful!

Thanks and Credits

Big shout to the fuk.co.uk reporting team: Bianca Donnelly, David Jones, Selene Pearson and Judith Erwes.

Bianca, who spent the week on crutches, says a big thanks to Beverley Cable PR who were really helpful.

And thanks from all of us to Michael all the team at Blow PR, Mandi Lennard, Sarah at Fashion East and Katie at Concrete - cheers for all your help.
