A secluded Soho car park was our venue for the Sinha-Stanic show.
However, the fashion pack were not best pleased. Having waited an hour
and a half for the show to start, tempers were somewhat frayed. The
girls next to me complained they were cold. Others mumbled about the
stench of fish, petrol and urine. In front, a well-known Executive
Fashion and Beauty Editor stormed out to ensure she got to Giles on
time. Ah yes, there were tantrums a-plenty here on Peter Street. Never
mind - all the best shows are fashionably late.

This season, we saw the worlds of fashion and music collide. Instead of
the bog-standard soundtrack, the designers teamed-up with a live band
who belted out their set from behind a black canvas screen. Inspired
though it was, I was seated near the speakers - which almost blew my
eardrums out!

And the clothes themselves? In a move away from last season's delicate
chiffons, design partners Fiona Sinha and Aleksandar Stanic have
changed direction. The new mood is sharper, harder, leaner and tougher.
Focusing on power dressing in a contemporary way, the collection has
much to offer career women who like a bit of va-va-voom. First out were
tulip-shaped belted trench coats (a universal trend so far) in camel
and black speckled with gold. Models seemed Amazonian in boxy cropped
jackets, above-the-knee skirts and killer heels.

From here, things got even shorter, tighter and sexier. Tiny purple and
black dresses featuring intricate wrap details, puffball hems and
experimental draping were showcased on girls who could easily have
stepped out of Robert Palmer's 'Addicted to Love' video. Finally, we
were dazzled with an eveningwear section made up of more miniscule
hemlines and Swarovski crystals. A word of warning - good legs are a
pre-requisite for wearing this collection!
