Last season Ashish channelled his inner bitch to give us Jackie Collins-inspired animal print mini-dresses and playsuits. For A/W07 he appears to have adopted a more elegant approach, as demonstrated in a series of slinky cocktail dresses and two-piece suits.

That's not to say there weren't disco sparkles aplenty. In fact, for once we didn't feel moved to mock the front rowers who feel compelled to don shades even in a darkened room. When Ashish's sequins catch the light it really is best to squint. If one word could sum-up this collection, slick would be it. From the pasted curlicues of hair arranged over the model's scalps to the way the way the holographic-effect dresses cling and ripple over the body underneath. This is as close as you could get to wearing liquid metal with out being admitted to A&E with third degree burns.

How much do we love his belts with the big quilted bows? And his cropped puffa jacket with a trompe l'oeil dinner jacket front. Christmas is still ten months away and we already know what's on our list to Santa.
