Fri, 16/02/2007 - 4:45pm Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Baden Powell House, SW7 In the unlikely event that tragic French singer Edith Piaf ever made it to a fun-filled night at Goth mecca Electricity Showrooms, Laura Lees has come up with a few wardrobe staples. Entitled La Vie En Rose, after the song that Piaf made famous, this is a typical Lees affair: sugary and pretty with a nasty edge. A bit like finding a razor in a boiled sweet.
In pink satins, baby blues silks and black georgettes and cottons a series of pin-tucked, bib-fronted dresses and puff-sleeved blouses came down the catwalk. Black and white striped shirts and full skirts are charmingly quaint but embroidered skulls and pills around hemlines tell a different story. A model sporting a muff made from fabric flowers looked like butter wouldn't melt until she got up close when her metal stud-embellished stilettos and tights suggested she could kick the shit out of concrete.
