Ashish fuk@lfw s/s 06
Tue, 20/09/2005 - 12:15pm BFC Tents, Natural History Museum SW7 Oh to be able to hit the gym in Ashish's sports-influenced clothes. In addition to cutting a dash on the treadmill, the weight of all those sequins would have us shedding the pounds in double quick time. As Olivia Newton John invited them to 'Get Physical', models - hands plunged deep in pockets and eyes obscured by large sunnies - sassed out in shorts, stripy rugby shirts and tracksuit tops barely an inch of which were left free of multicoloured sequins. Particularly must-have were narrow-legged jersey running pants that zipped open at the sides to reveal, surprise surprise, more sequins and casual, baggy bomber jackets that for max effect must be worn with sleeves pushed up and cleavage on show. Less controversial than previous shows, in which Disney characters and major sporting brand logos were reproduced without permission, this collection benefited from being less spectacle and more sass. The smattering of menswear, particularly black shorts with appliquéd triangles in bright colours, didn't do any harm either and if there's a waiting list for the head-to-toe gold-sequinned tracksuit, stick me on it. I feel a jog coming on. Words: Maia Adams. Photos: David Jones. |
