Monday Roundup

This is one of the most physically challenging Fashion Weeks we've ever experienced. Part of the team started the day at the BFC's New Generation venue which is a theatre set inside Holland Park. Sound venue and quite a treat to be able to enjoy one of London's great parks during Fashion Week, but as well as some on-schedule shows at the Natural History Museum, we also had to get to shows slap bang in the middle of Pimlico and the top end of the Kings Road. Reporter Maia Adams is cycling through the streets, photographer David Jones is on a trusty Vespa, while our other snapper Judith, reporter Selene and myself are mixing tubes, taxis and bus rides with shanks' pony - whatever will get us there!

Day 1 saw some great shows. Weardowney continue to create awesome handcrafted clothes, while Ashish's New Generation collection was very upbeat and the man was in fine form when he spoke to us. Fashion East - which featured some great music, reggae plus some classic Clash - was a smooth-running showcase which included an impressive debut by Danielle Scutt. Julie Wilkins' Future Classics collection has plenty of innovative elements. Mother of Pearl's LFW catwalk debut was a mini holiday - bringing us beaches and breezy walks with a fun, tongue-in-cheek feel to pretty, well made clothes that don't seem restricted by age. The designers showing later in the day as always suffered from the day's backlog, so the wait at Manish Arora's show was long and we had to revise our schedule but we did manage to see Spijkers and Spijkers, the feisty Dutch twins who love showing in London.

Tuesday - we're geared up for fewer venues (phew) and will be checking out shows at Vauxhall Fashion Scout - this is another off-schedule initiative helping designers get a foot in the LFW door with sponsorship and a catwalk showcase. We're looking forward to Robert Cary Williams and Basso & Brooke.
