Richard Nicholl fuk@lfw s/s 07

At a guess, we'd hazard that Richard Nicholl's top tip for ss07 is to work polka dots into our wardrobes. Big, small, shiny or matt, on hats, as buttons and on scarves, nary an outfit came down the ramp that didn't have a spot on it somewhere – which is fine if you like things dotty, but a little overwhelming if not.

That said, there are some pieces that we wouldn't mind hanging in our wardrobe come the warmer months. Blouses, cropped to just below the bust, look cute with structurally cut skirts, and crisp shirts embellished with dainty pin tucks sit well over what look like micro puff ball skirts.

We also love the Christian Loboutin wedge sandals worn with girlie ankle socks, the super-long wallet chains made of white plastic links and the pork pie hats with the top cut out so that the models' hair hangs through.

Not everything came together quite so smoothly however. Ample pleats lent volume to trousers which taper at the ankle and whilst these have their charm, when paired with equally roomy suit jackets, the clownish effect was a touch overpowering.

Similarly, whilst there are some lovely cotton shorts with turn ups, the scantier versions, reminiscent of 1950s bikini bottoms, may prove less easy to wear for those of us not boasting model proportions.
