Wednesday Roundup fuk@lfw s/s 07

C.neeon at the tents and Berubé at On|Off. Julie Berubé designs clothes she wears herself and we appreciate the collection - we droolled cos it was so thoughtful in detail but real.

Jean-Pierre Braganza was proper good. More grown-up awesome menswear and sleek womenswear - a very tight collection and as always a really enjoyable show with great music and a nice buzz. We also got to Avsh Alom Gur's second LFW catwalk show (beautiful knitwear) and Chris Kane's debut.

Off-schedule there was a stonking debut by Esther Franklin and while we do not usually bother with all that celebrity guff, gotta say having a true British icon of style Mr Ray Winstone at your show was great - thanks Esther. Earlier the Princess of Norway and The Redknapps caused a bit of a commotion at the Horticultural Halls - pain for us cos we were busy downloading and filing copy when we had to move to another area to make way "for some VIPs"!.

Mislaid my ticket to Zandra Rhodes and had to stand in a 'holding pen' for a while! Zandra Rhodes is a full-on, formidable homegrown fashion talent who's founded the Fashion and Textiles Museum and so much more. Tonight she was back on our catwalks for the first time in 17 years. Great show, no lazy re-hash, Zandra's reinventing her own style. Maia managed to get to Marios Schwab but the wait was brutal - the show finally started two hours after it was scheduled at 10pm. As Maia said, it's hard to properly focus on the clothes when you're so tired you can barely see...

Bumped into Caryn Franklin who was interviewing Zandra for a new series of The Clothes Show on UK Living - more details on the podcast.
