Inbar Spector

It was a bit twisted at Inbar Spector, though not in the sense you might think. Models were swathed in twists of tulle and wore Medusa-like plaits in their hair in a rather gothic collection from the Israeli born designer. Someone give Tim Burton a call as the clothes seemed plucked from one of his eerie, unconventional romances.

Working mostly in draped chiffon and tulle, with accents of delicate lace the overall effect is softer than Inbar’s previous collection, though that’s not to say she’s abandoned the zip detailing altogether: complex construction and zipped corsetry seem to still be at the core of her work, a black jacket with zipped tails working particularly well.

As you’d expect from a collection described as ‘gothic’, most garments are black but an unexpected icy blue managed to look both pretty and futuristic and a white dress, which can only be described as an explosion of tulle, was the crowd pleaser with ‘whoops’ emanating from the crowd.

Inbar is keen to state she wants to combine ‘exquisite detailing with a ready to wear aesthetic’ and whilst we can definitely appreciate the intricacy of the design we’re not quite sure how the twisted tulle ballgown would be received at the local supermarket. Inbar’s creations look like show pieces to us, and we like them that way.
