Muji launches 90 degree socks
It's not often that one gets a chance to be excited by socks, but today I really am. Yesterday, I was given a pair of 90 degree socks from Japanese non-brand brand, Muji.
Apparently, the idea originates from Czechoslovakia where "grandmothers" have traditionally knitted 90 degree socks by using six needles at once. Muji cottoned on to the concept and, having developed a special production process to create them, launched a range in Japan. Now the company has brought them to the UK.
The Japanese have a great affection for and interest in hosiery. Socks are something quite special - sock chain Tabio for example has over 200 branches in Japan and has been in business for nearly a century. The 90 degree sock really is an innovation - it's easier to put on and take off and, as I am wearing a pair right now, I can vouch for how comfy they are. What's amazing is that no-one else - apart from Muji and some Czech grannies - has made this innovation before.
90 degree socks - available from August 2007 in Muji branches across the UK (and online) priced from £3.99.

ive tried to 'cop' but cant find them on the site. ![]()
our end mate - they're not selling online till August apparently - I've now edited the story..
thats quite a reasonable price

How are they sold then..do they come in individual shoe sizes?..looks like having a pair too big would leave lots of extra sockage at the end of the foot..??
