Clemens en August on tour in the UK

Clemens en August a/w 2008
Dutch designer Alexander Brenninkmeijer has created a luxury clothing label that can only be bought on its bi-annual tours and the latest collection has just landed in London where it will be available for five days before moving on the Glasgow.
Alexander founded the label in 2004 following an eight year partnership with Kostas Murkudis. The name is sourced from Alexander's ancestors - two brothers named Clemens and August Brenninkmeijer who toured the Dutch countryside selling fabrics to landowners. Clemens en August has built up a worldwide reputation via its art gallery tours and this unique selling method has a positive impact on the price. Garments come labelled with the on-tour price alongside a price showing what it would cost if there were the overheads of a shop included. The autumn/winter collection includes cashmere, wool. tweed and corduroy pieces for men alongside velvet, silk and jersey pieces for women. Prices range from £100-£600.
Catch August en Clemens at The ICA (The Mall, SW1) on 14th and 15th October before it heads east to Inivia in Shoreditch (Rivington Place London EC2) where it will be available until October 19th. Keep an eye on the website (Events section) for details of the Glasgow leg of the tour.
