Curse of the carrier

We all know it, yet everyday thousands of us continue to use plastic carrier bags which do not biodegrade and are a serious threat to the environment.

This short film is a compelling round-up of the argument against using plastic bags - a rally call to us all to get with it and just stop. One expert tells us "we've probably all got bits of plastic bags in our stomachs". We also learn that the bags are ubiquitous because they are a cheaply produced by-product of the oil industry and another expert accuses supermarkets who now sell so-called 'biodegradable' versions of plastic bags of "greenwashing". Watch this and get with the Irish whose ban has been totally successful, stopping the appearance of what they call "witches' knickers" across the landscape.
