The Demise of Lacroix

Lacroix 2007 ad campaign.
Designer Christian Lacroix is struggling to save his fashion house which recently filed for bankruptcy. The couture market has suffered considerably in the economic downturn and Lacroix is the latest label to fall victim of the decline in luxury sales.
Established in 1987, the house of Lacroix has always been associated with vibrant colour, visionary designs and extremely expensive price tags. Although a pret a porter collection was launched a year after the house was set-up, couture has always been at the heart of Lacroix and last year saw a drop in sales of 35% and a loss of €10million. The label employs 125 staff and Lacroix is reported to be determined to try and continue.
