This year sees Jaeger turn 125 years old but the iconic British brand isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.
Having conquered the catwalk at London Fashion Week, with February only their third showing ever, launched a homewares line and found themselves back on fashion’s good side they now have the honour of a celebratory book and exhibition as a big birthday present. As with any supercentenarian, Jaeger’s story is an interesting one and the book, Jaeger 125, will chart the evolution of the brand – from weird wools all the way to the latest high-fashion offerings on London’s catwalks. Offering a more interactive opportunity to delve into the history of one of Britain’s most successful fashion labels is the exhibition at London College of Fashion, curated by the Course Directors of the MA Fashion Curation degree and authors of the Jaeger 125 book, Amy de la Haye and Judith Clark. Taking place in the Fashion Space Gallery, at the campus on John Prince’s Street, visitors have the opportunity to see elusive garments from Jaeger’s archive alongside rare photographs and catalogues. Jaeger 125 is available to buy online at Jaeger’s website and the exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 10am – 5pm until 29th May 2009 with free entry for all.
