The Do Lectures

Not many clothing companies have got the vision to launch series of lectures aimed at spreading innovative ideas about design and living, but that's exactly what howies has done.

The Do Lectures will commence on September 4th and until September 8th close to howie's HQ in Cardigan Bay, West Wales. There are just 75 places available for anyone wishing to attend and howies is funding the lectures from its earth tax fund (which is !% of company turnover). There will be 20 speakers including climber Andy Kirkpatrick: co-author of the ‘Cradle to Cradle’ Michael Braungart: author of ‘Bread Matters’ Andrew Whitley; futurist and blogger Russell Davies; author of The Green Manifesto John Grant and architect and ecologist Ken Yeang.

Guests will be camping on site at fforset farm in Cilgerran, where the lectures are being held and food and meetings will take place at the lodge which will act as the 'hub' of the event. In-keeping with howies' philosophy, the Do lectures are all about inspiring people to think differently and act to change the world: "We believe the glass is always half full. We believe higher quality means lower impact. And we believe tea should always be made in a pot."

If you would like to attend the Do Lectures you need to write a letter by hand (no emails please) explaining why and what you hope to Do. Post it FAO Alison, howies, Bath House Road, Cardigan, West Wales SA43 1JY. All the lectures will be broadcast on the web, so even if you don't get to attend in person, you can still enjoy the talks online.
