Is Green the New Black?
'Is Green the New Black?' is the title of a week-long series of events at the London College of Fashion exploring the role of ethics in the UK fashion industry, now and in the future.

The week kicks off on Monday April 30th with a debate, open to all, featuring designers and businesses all working to ethical principles. Discussion and workshops continue into the afternoon and speakers include creator of organic cosmetics (and Ronnie's missus) Jo Wood, members of the Environmental Justice Foundation and eco footwear specialist, Galahad Clark. On Tuesday, May 1st there is Fashion 2027, a workshop which will attempt to look twenty years into the fashion future and see what progress could be made. Practical advice is offered by the Ethical Fashion Forum to help designers to find out how they can set up their own ethical businesses. Then on Wednesday May 2nd, we are all invited to join the Big Green Debate hosted by Caryn Franklin with a panel which includes Green Party members, Mike Barry from Marks and Sparks and Lucy Lewin, the founder of Whistles.
On Thursday afternoon the inspirational people from Feather Duster are hosting a clothes swap between 1pm-4pm. You don't have to pay and there's no booking needed - just turn up with any unwanted clothes and have fun swapping them or re-styling them with the assistance of the team. There will be live music and, judging by Feather Duster's regular pub events, it's going to be a walk-in wardrobe load of fun. |

Finally, on Friday there's an Eco-Fair featuring a wide selection of ethcial fashion, lifestyle and design pieces for sale as well as showings of Al Gore's film 'An Inconvenient Truth' and the Pesticide Action Network's 'Moral Fibre', a film on organic cotton production.
