Mock the monogram
Louis Vuitton logo overload
It could finally be time to take a stand against the over-exposed Louis Vuitton monogram. This ubiquitous LV logo has become as commonplace as the Nike swoosh - celebrity after celebrity is snapped with identical LV luggage sets and it seems that LV has a monopoly. This season, London-based designer label Pokit has launched a credible, alternative luxury luggage range. All the Pokit pieces are handmade in the UK to the highest standards and the initial collection includes canvas/leather, canvas/tweed weekend bags, leather travel bags and clever carry-on flight pieces: so take note, Victoria, David, Martine, Elton etc, prices start at £150. If you fancy mocking the monogram to the max, get kitted out in some of Red Dot's winter gear. The chaps at Red Dot have re-interpreted the LV one and their version is made up of naked women, guns and their own RD monogram. The print appears in visors, caps fitted with headphone pockets, men's and women's jackets, belts, hoodys, sweats and track pants and the London store has been decked out with monogramed shelves and boxes. Everything comes in navy or claret and prices start at £15.
- Pokit luggage is available from Selfridges in London and Manchester and from the Pokit shop, 67 Fernhead Road, London W9, telephone: 020 8962 8784.
