Almond's fashion party performance

Marc Almond sings at On/Off

On/Off celebrated its second season at Fashion Week with a party at the Royal Academy on Monday night with a live performance by supporter Marc Almond. A svelte Marc wore a fitted black shirt with glitter panels and stormed through three numbers and threw white roses at the crowd in a solo perfomance that took place on one of the Academy's glamorous white staircases. Introducing Marc was On/Off panel member Caryn Franklin who helped choose the 12 designers featured at the event this season. Caryn drew buisness cards out of a bowl to choose the winner of the party's spot prize - a snazzy laptop and stressed to the fashion party goers the importance of On/Off as "a totally independent organisation which doesn't receive any government funding" but seeks to help designers show at fashion week and develop their businesses. "Mentoring is a really important - we are used to seeing designers come and go and part of what makes On/Off different is its role as mentor, advising and helping designers for the long term." On/Off continues with a showroom and catwalk shows at the Royal Academy until Wednesday September 22nd.
