I need to read some new books but I have no money, someone should start up a book swap thing or something.

Someone should start the thread and organize it.

Try a library maybe?

Just read 'Barrel Fever' by David Sedaris.
Found it hilarious, its a collection of short stories and essays, all incredibly dark and bizzare.
Very easy to read, the stories are so fast paced and outlandish that It was easy to just breeze through it.
I initially just grabbed it at teh borrders closing down sale and it turns out its a first edition Smiling

Now reading 'Under Milk Wood' by Dylan Thomas, Its quite wierd reading a play by oneself especially when its written for the radio and I struggled to get a lot out of it initially. However, at the first dawn sequence, the way Thomas manages to create the feeling of this small village waking up and coming to life is brilliant. As you follow various characters around this small welsh seaside village throughout a day (and I think two nights although I'm not sure yet) that you first meet whilst they are dreaming you just get completely absorbed by them, discovering the inner workings of thier personal lives. Thomas's poetic dialougue is lovely as well. really reccomend it.

The sun and once in a while the news of the world. I guess that does cover all the subjects.

Weird, but not as weird as Kafka on the shore.

David Eagleman - Sum

Bit of a hype book, but really good book that you could read in 2-3 hours.

Personally I love the Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Murakami, sublime book. Did enjoy Kafka on the Shore though, I like the way he describes the librarian's outfits in such detail (no fashionista Laughing out loud )

I dont read much fiction, so the riddles and metaphors are somewhat lost on me. I did try and Google what its 'about' but I think its nicer to speculate and create ones own interpretation! Eye-wink

apparently it's one of his easier texts because it doesn't have any technical philosophy.

I agree with you though, it's very demanding.

kafka on the shore and dance dance dance are my favourites from murakami, and i have read most of them. the wind up bird chronicles is good, but a bit long. he spent to much time sat in that hole under the house for my liking.
