need to buy something from ebay seller in US. Seller says they cant find any service that will ship to uk for under 68 dollars (fed ex), so they want me to find a cheaper service. Any other services that are cheap that I can try and get a quote? The items weighs about half a Kg.

serious question how long does it typically take for an insurance claim to go through for a lost parcel sent to the states via the post office and usps?

had a while you were out about a month ago - went to collect it from the delivery office, they said they didn't have it, and didn't know what the postman had done with it as all the boxes on the card had been filled in/crossed out. they took my details and said they'd get in touch, 2 weeks later heard nothing, called up again, they said they'd do a full search. 2 weeks later, tracking had updated online saying it's at heathrow, called them today, they said it was put on a return flight to China last friday.

csb.

Sent something to New Zealand last Friday, just checked the tracking on Royal Mail's website, it's been despatched to Australia... absolute mongs. Bearing in mind I always capitalise the country's name.

mine actually arrived in the states, delivered and scanned at the local usps office for despatch to the recipient then like magic in a puff of smoke it disappears. don't think it had anything to do with the fact that it had £250 on the customs declaration form on a big white box.

wankers.

Something similar happened to me a couple of years ago when I sold/sent a used mobile phone to the USA. I put "broken mobile phone" to try and deter possible thieves, on the customs form and declared the value as $40, as it was only worth/sold for £30. It got as far as "Out for delivery", then "Unable to delivery - insufficient address details", to "Returned to sender" on the USPS.com website.

Waited 2 months for it to show up, it never showed up. Put in a claim with Royal Mail, took another 60 days or so and received a letter to say it had been delivered, day later the buyer emails me to say he's received the mobile phone.

How.long does it take to send something from Canada to UK?! Bought a pair of virgils from there and its been a month. Was sent by surface shipping. The tracking number tells me fuck all and the seller is certain hes sent them.

at least you got some although bullshit info. sounds odd that it eventually got delivered after all that time.

marked my parcel repair which is what it was, the holdall needed the leather looking at.

got as far as arrived at unit (local usps office) then vanished. the driver who delivers to the addressee doesn't know where it is nor do anyone at the usps office. not holding out much hope that'll turn up, it's a big fuck off white box can't miss it.

put in a claim but it sound like it takes an age for it to process Evil

doomedyouth if it's surface mail it can take an age and tracking usually only tells you what's happening in the country it's been sent from. try looking at royal mail track and trace now and again just in case it arrive here. then it will tell you it's progress through customs, etc.

Troll, you tried tweeting @RoyalMail with the tracking number? They may be able to give you more information... quicker than ringing them up.

haven't tried tweeting but been in touch on phone with usps a number of times and they have been looking apparently, also got the recipient at his end looking and reporting back to me. nothing.

spoke with royal mail a couple of times and all they said was they can't step and investigate until twenty-five days had passed so after that time rang them again and they said fill out a form. helpful Sad

cheers man, it does say 4-6 weeks but the guy just refunded me by 'mistake' even though he says they are in the mail still, also sent me a message from his personal email and tried to call me asking me to pay once arrived. weird. (he sent it by canada post I think, tracking number just says -
