Why don't you just send it like you would anything else? If they're not in a card will be left and they can pick it up

no, as in somewhere i can go to drop off the parcel, as i went into the post office today, and they were qouting something ridiculous like 50 quid for it,
i dont care about when it gets to their side of things, just im not in during the day, so getting parcel2go to come and collect the parcel from me to send is impractical

For future reference, get a quote from Interparcel. Weight usually isn't the issue, like it is with Royal Mail, the dimensions are what's important and a jacket will be quite a small package

Anything over 2kgs is absolute rape to send by RM.

Interested buyer in Italy. Heard Royal Mail 'International Signed for' is a no-no with these guys as no tracking. From what I've read either Parcel Force Euro Priority or Interparcel, any other recommendations? or just avoid Italy.

International signed is fine and you can track the item on the Italy post website. Plus you'll get compo if it goes missing. I send stuff to Italy regularly and nothing has ever gone missing that was sent Royal Mail international signed

Went to the post office yesterday with 8 letter sized packages, containing over £500 worth of stuff I flogged on eBay, obviously paid for "signed for - recorded mail" after he had processed all the packages and I had paid, he gave me back the packages and told me to put them in the post box.
Surely this is "illegal/ against RM rules". I could easily have walked off and not posted them. If it was one package that was worth £500, I probably would have.

International signed and special delivery packages are meant to be signed for by the postie when he comes in to collect the mail. Recorded delivery goes in with normal first class mail and is only "tracked" when it's delivered. But yeah, he shouldn't have asked you to do that. Was there any reason why he did?

Doing you a favour then. Guy in my local PO lets me do that with recorded deliveries if I've missed the last collection, but I have known him for 20 years. If any of your items were international signed or special delivery then he'll be fucked if they go missing

I hear you - was quoted £68 to send a pair of over 2kg boots to japan.
I remember when you could send 4 pairs of trainers to japan for under £50.

God I have a parcel weighing 3kg that needs to go to USA. Fucking new 2kg+ pricing is bullshit.

I sent one the other day 1,7 kgs and a whopping £24!!! The alternative was by sea and apparently takes anywhere between 2 -3 months

Have come to conclusion that I basically won't send anything over 2kg outside of uk.
Anyone else think they jacked prices to compensate for lack of revenue of fewer people sending letters?
Love to know what special rates amazon and the like get.

royal mail dont send stuff over 2kg.
it has always been parcel force.
like robii says for anything over (2kg) use that interparcel or whatever (i use parcel2go) i sent something weighing 4kg to japan this week for 45 pounds. (dimensions are important...try a few sizes until it alters pricing...the same size weighing upto about 8kg was the same price).
it gets sent using fedex. fully trackable. (parcel force price was around 90 pounds).
try to use plastic bags/thin (light) cardboard boxes/common sense.

How does that work then? Do you just pay online and they come to your shack to collect?
