They don't check the measurements or weight either, so if making the package slightly smaller or lighter gets you a cheaper quote on the website, do that. If I weigh something on the post office scales and it's 1.25 kg, I just put 1kg down. Obviously don't take the piss or you'll end up paying more and the parcel will be delayed

Royal Mail lost an eBay item of mine a few weeks back, stupidly didn't send it tracked or recorded (it's what the buyer asked for!), so that was that, item lost, buyer got his money back, etc. etc.

Since then i'll never send anything un-tracked again, so online couriers all the way really! Been using worldwide parcel services recently as well as a couple of others listed under the Alternatives to Royal Mail on this page.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a service to send a parcel weighing about 2.1kg to USA (needs to be signed for)?

Post office want £65 as it has to go with parcelforce. Thanks

Its a couple of pairs of trainers that together weigh more than the 2kg limit for royal mail

when weighing them have you put them in a box? or plastic bag?

could separate and send them in two packages (i've split one pair of boots before).

or go 1 page back and read that for alternatives to royal mail/parcelforce (or check at the top of the page).

Do Parcelforce usually deliver on Saturday? I'm waiting for two parcels. They're both at the local depot but one was apparently loaded on to the delivery van this morning

Sent something to South Korea over a week ago, tracking is now showing it has arrived in South Africa and been dispatched for delivery?! Any suggestions, or is it basically a lost cause and I should put in a claim?

^ Sometimes packages are not delivered directly to the final destination, I'd give it a few more days and keep checking its status

Anyone know how much it should cost to send a leather jacket to France?

Royal Mail site is saying £25.50 with tracking but don't want to end up short changed when I actually go in. Also what's the score with customs and stuff? Never sent anything abroad before so do I need to mark down or anything?

Yeah mark down..as low value although shouldn't be any customs fees for france..price sounds about right with the weight..as obvious as it is make sure you keep the receipt! royal mail every so often fuck up the delivery...sent my last package to wrong country Puzzled luckily I still had proof of shipping address.. to show the cunts

You don't need a customs declaration to send something to France, or anywhere else in the EU. I wouldn't recommend Royal Mail signed for to France though. Stuff often goes missing and as the French postal service issue Royal Mail items with their own tracking number when they enter France, it's very difficult to prove delivery. anyone been having trouble with receiving parcel force international deliveries over the past few months? four times now i've had stuff get stuck indefinitely at "held" (this is after paying customs & scheduling a delivery day) and needed to phone them to get it moving again
