I've let my hair grow. When dry my fringe is curling, when it's wet it's straight.

I do this diagonal fringe thing, which I need a straight fringe for.

Gel makes my hair hard. Evil

What hair product (types of gel, wax whatever) can I use to hold my hair in position (that actually works, not just claims to)? My fringe is too short for straighteners.

get anywhere near this and you good to go.

This. I styled the top how I normally would and I think it made it easier to take the sides off. Was clearer to see what hair I wore up if that makes sense.
Then got the top washed, a little trim and was sorted.
