grime killed garage. what most people referred to as garage what just cock pop.... people are still doing what they did 10 years ago the good stuff always survives... grime, is the same,...except the big playas as it were, have all pretty much sold out in one degree or another. which none of them really said they'd do. pretty lame. dub is what came from good garage. its intelligent, sophisticated and thorough. and, can only be really appreciated with a £1000 + soundsystem Killing Garage is a bit harsh TBH, i want to retract that statement. Uk Garage is not even a shadow of what it once was. Bad attitude and the wrong following ruined it for so many people. There are a lot of new producers coming out the woodwork with new stuff trying to push the scene forward for example Duncan Powell, Solution, Delinquint and many more. The problem is that nothing is being advertised as much as it used too. Pirate radio is pushing things forward as i saw in Watford the other day My 2 cents. |

its all dubstep now anyway. because the scenes taking off so much. you go to a dubstep night and hear skream, he will play the wobbly stuff he likes and at the moment definitely the klaxons remix. stupidly over-indulgent he usually plays his own stuff. if you see someone like youngsta he'll play th techy stuff that even the most dub-fanatic wont have heard. oneman is literally all garage. ive seen him a couple of times and he smashes it. plays old wiley tracks, and loadsa burial ( lets face it, although he is a dubstep producer and his albums are seminal dubstep, its still garage), and even seen him drop i luv you by rascal before. likewise, plasticman is pretty much all grime. he has boy better know featuring on his tracks. then you have loefah and DMZ who are just dark, proper dark and moody, you definitely wont hear spongebob in there set. all dark, aggresive basslines but still pay major homage to the old stuff. |

Saying even some bumpkins can understand is quite a moderate stand point. How are you going to relate if you've never been/experienced what people are spitting about? At least where I'm from... Out of towners get moved to in a second. Before you hippy's have a riot, I'm not saying I will move to a bumpkin and I'm not saying its right either. Seems like I'm going to need to put everything laymans terms for you spengs. I wouldn't get pulled into these fucking threads all the time if people read what was infront of them on the monitor rather than what they wanted to see. I wouldn't bother, it's doubtful the Arsenal 'keeper reads this... I just read through this thread, and that really made me laugh! Wasteman do you post in the WAYT or anything? |

Not sure that last bit quite makes sense... One place you definitely would have heard Spongebob was in a Digital Mystikz/Loefah set since it was built by Coki (DM). And Oneman generally adapts his sets to the night - i've seen him play out 100% ukg for instance but he also plays lots of older dubstep and breakbeat garage. Plasticman plays more dubstep than grime now, as does Tubby of Newham Generals - shame as they are both amazing DJs and frankly lots of the dubstep getting banged out at the moment is pretty boring. Grime is far from dead, you just have to look for it! The mixtape scene is very healthy though the vinyl and pirate scenes less so. Trim is one to watch in 07 I think |

Trim is one to watch in 07 I think ive seen mala/ loefah a few times and cant think of hearing them dropping spongebob. i understand its abit of an odd thing to say, but spongebob to me is that odd clownstep/ noise thats coming out at the moment. as you said dubstep at the moment is pretty boring. loefah is much darker, i cant think of anyone that does sets like him and really cant see spongebob fitting in. (i do like spongebob btw) |

Just listened to the 1xtra JME Skepta New York bit, JME is so shit which is even more infuriating because he drags Skepta down with him. My favourite in the game right now is Griminal 'flick out the sri lanka swing swing swing' |

dubstep watch out for; me garnnn Newham Generals album has supposed to have been coming out for about four years now! It is not going to be as good as their radio stuff anyway. Neckle Camp doesn't exist any more, Jammer has disbanded it. And I think Kronik from Slew Dem is banged up again. It's all about the youngers at the moment imo - Griminal, Chipmunk, P Money, S Double. And Trim's Soulfood 3 also. |

(i do like spongebob btw) I agree about Spongebob (and Jakes' 3kout) starting a really noisy techy swing-less trend within dubstep. The worst bits are descending into some awful dnb style quagmire. It's all about Kode9 at the moment. |

Ive been a bit disappointed with the trim mixtapes.. theres two/three stand out tracks on both.. but majority is poor compared to his old bars. but yeh its all bout the youngsters chipmunks - league of my own best thing ive heard for a while I thought the first was amazing and the second one pretty good. Only thing now is he does loads of talking tunes where is is just ranting and rambling about stuff and compared to his old bars as you say they are a bit poor (The Lowdown for instance being one of the greatest moments of grime ever imo). However when he does rhyme his wordplay and weird style is incredible. Hear him warring with Flowdan on Rinse last week? It wasn't a real clash, it all seemed a bit pointless. Fuck Radio 5 still getting constant reloads on my ipod. |
