And I is a new label set to take on this strong trend of feminizing menswear, designed by Briton Mark Budd and Quoc Pham, they use effeminate detailing such as polka dots and mismatched buttons. We have seen Paul Smith add a feminine touch with floral prints and embroidery and this is developing through more menswear.

A lot of the ideas coming out of this theme are more subtle, so as to make it more accessible, but big buttons, floral embroidery and pearl trims are all present. Shorts have a feminine touch with use of satin, as seen in Unconditional's collection. Pinks and pastel tones emphasise the look: it's fresh, wearable and casual.
The staple of the spring wardrobe, fashion trends are repeating but the men's trench is coming in innovative styles this year. A fresh way to wear the coat is with a skinny belt, a feminine, mod style which when worn around the waist gives a modern feel. Sleeves will be full length, rolled over, and contemporary alternatives adopt sleeveless styles, which is where Yuko Yoshitake takes the Mac this season.

As in womenswear, grey is an ongoing trend, from pale pearl greys to darker tones. The grey suit is consistently represented in many designers' collections as a must-have: preppy, loose-fitting, safari styles, it's got to be luxurious and lightweight. However, we don't want to feel drab and stuck in winter so the trend can be brightened up for spring summer with bright prints and graphics or bright patterned knits.

Topman Design, which showed at MAN, has grey lightweight suits with suit shorts that come below the knee, loose fitting and a really relaxed suit look. Topman Design has pushed the contemporary, relaxed take on grey suit further by mixing it with ties printed onto T-shirts, a great way to take the drab away from the grey.
It's not always easy to pull off shorts in the summer, you have to get the right style for your look. This year the options are endless, and they are going to be staple for the wardrobe this spring. Prada has pushed boundaries with plastic shorts, but the majority of us will go for the various printed, linen, khaki, short short, striped or loose designs on offer. You will want to invest in skinny belts this year to finish the look of your shorts. We will see a sporty styles coming through in jerseys, cropped sweat pants and draw string waists as well.

The ever popular summertime fabric is back. Casual and relaxed, paperweight linens will give the laid back summer look. Shirts are worn with loose fitting trousers and shorts, often in white but we might not all want to be a vision of purity so the white lines can be mixed with khakis, for the safari touch.

The high street will give alternatives of wearing the look, pick up a key piece, say a white linen shirt, this can then be layered, mixed with light weight hooded knits, shorts or loose khaki trousers. Other designers have given this trend a nautical edge, so mix white linens with blues and reds. This is a really laid back look that gives a casual sophistication.
