Design Initiative
Last year at Swatch Alternative Fashion Week, Swatch teamed up with Chelsea College of Art and Design to hold a design competition inspired by the Skin Spring / Summer 04 range of watches. Fifty students took part, competing for a £3,000 bursary prize. The collection was showcased on the first day of SAFW 2004 and the judging panel picked 19-year-old Joanna Kubica's fantastic delicate devoré design as the winner.
Face of Alternative Fashion Week
Throughout SAFW 2004, representatives from Premier Model Management and Swatch scoured the crowds looking for new modelling talent. It was 21-year-old Erica Thompson, with "flame-red hair and a wonderful smile" who really caught the eye of Premier's Sam Cookson. Erica, a student at the London institute, won a year's contract with Premier and is seen here modelling a Swatch-inspired outfit on the last day of SAFW 2004.
