Individual Design Award

The Swatch Individual Design Award was won by Sonal Patel for her collection which used unusual fabric mixes to create subtle and stylish designs and an innovative and contemporary look.

Sonal was selected out of fifty young designers who showed off their work throughout the week, with her collection scoring the highest marks for artistry, originality, impact, creativity and innovation. The winning prize includes an internship with leading fashion designer, Walé Adeyemi, and £1,000 to help further her career.

Sonal Patel says, "It was hard work preparing for Swatch Alternative Fashion Week but I enjoyed the experience it gave me. I'm now really inspired to continue showing my collections and one day I hope to be a leader in UK cutting-edge fashion."

 

Face of Alternative Fashion Week

Premier Model Management presented Jasmine Poulton, 16 with a one year Premier Modelling contract. Jasmine, from Essex, will be the new 'Face of Swatch' for the next twelve months.

Myra Allard, Head Model Scout, Premier Model Management comments: "We're really happy with the new 'Face of Swatch'. Jasmine's got all the right ingredients to be a very successful model one day, great skin, a fantastic figure and a great personality, which is key in this industry. Jasmine also has a natural presence which is important for the brand!"

 

Swatch College Award

Students from Colchester School of Art and Design were awarded the Swatch College Award for their customisations of a Swatch Original watch. The winning designers included Edward Hughes, Adele Sallars, Rachel Brunton and Alexander Blackman.

Alexia Burgess from Chelsea College of Art and Design also received a special recommendation for her watch, due to its creativity and design.

The Colchester School of Art and Design will receive 'Swatch Aid', a tailor made package providing the college with practical help and resources, such as a Brothers sewing machine (worth £1,000), Morplan dress stands and £1,000 for fabrics and tutors. As part of the prize package leading UK designer, Scott Henshall, will be providing a fashion masterclass for students at the college.
