one of my mates has 13 tattoos Shocked ones a big panther crawling up her back. thing is shes tiny and not the kind of girl you'd imagine with them at all, so they're not too good.. she got them done cause her ex boyfriend was a tattoo artist.

how about your chest?

as im working on a design for myself at mo which is personal to me and cant decide whether to have it done on my chest or just below my neck on my back!

i do not want it to look jailer style!

by the way miami ink on discover is a wicked show..also k1 on eurosprt last night had a fighter with a taratantula tattooed on his head..looked so shit!

It's not agony, but it's not pleasant, it feels like someone scratching you with a piece of glass. Anywhere that doesn't see daylight or where the skin is thinner (ie, where bones are near the surface, like elbows, collar bones, ankles, spine) will hurt more. A lot depends on your pain threshold.

I know loads of people who have had their chest tattooed, it's 50/50 as to how painfull it is, some say it's agony, some say it's no worse than anywhere else.

Both fairly painfull places.

When I had a tattoo done in America it was more painfull than the ones I've had done in England, I think because they used an outlining neeedle for most of the colouring-in, which is more painfull, and I think they see the whole thing as some big macho ordeal, like it's supposed to hurt, so they make it hurt. I've fallen asleep having a tattoo in the UK, the tattooist was so good she hardly hurt me at all.

I know a guy who has got his entire head tattoed and it looks realy cool, but aparantly it's absolute agony.

Top tip - Don't drink for a couple of days beforehand, the alcohol thins your blood so you bleed a lot more and makes your skin more sensitive.

I would have it done in this country, that way if it needs any touching-up after it's healed you will be able to go back to the shop and get it done for free.

I'm too much of a girl, I've seen a brilliant design for my back but I'm too scared to go through with it, I might save it until my 40th birthday.

When i had mine done, the parts where it crosses my spine were the worst pain i have ever felt. Other parts weren't too bad, so it wasn't as if the guy was rough, he was fine. (no homo)

I was getting phantom pains for a few days after, like it affects the nerves around the spine or something.

I want one on the back of my arm where the tricep is. I've heard fine lines done too close together will merge later in life. Is this true? And if so, whats the closest together I should get? (I don't want a bar code, but the design I'm thinking of has lines almost as close). Puzzled

Tattoos get "fuzzy" as the years go by, the edges kind of bleed outwards like it you wet paper that has ink lines drawn on it. It's not a big problem for large blocky designs (like tribal stuff) as you can go and have the edges redone to make them sharp again but it can be a big problem with very intricate designs.

You also have to avoid strong sun, it breaks down the ink, and as the ink is darker than your normal skin it absorbs more radiation, so tattoos get hot quicker than un-tattooed skin and could increase the risk of skin cancer.

I put factor 50 sun-block on mine.

A goog tattooist should explain all the pro's and con's of having a tattoo to you and give you plenty of information/advice about aftercare.
