Anyone know of any good places to have clothes altered in (central) London?

Cheers Smiling

Cheers for that. On second thought, an online option might be better (though riskier) as I'm only going to be down in London now and then at the moment. Anyone tried Quickstitch? Supposedly have shops in Edinburgh and London (amongst other places) and seem to have decent reviews -

If this is a really bad idea then I will definitely look into your suggestion Timmbo.

used quickstitch in edinburgh to taper some uniqlo chinos - but they're a bit overpriced imo (16.99).

Reviews seem to be mixed but I might give them a go. The trousers are absolute shit as they are so if they get fucked up then it's not the end of the World (though I hope they don't!). Appreciate your feedback mate! Smiling

Just placed an order with them. Was £10.99 and however much it costs me to post them (so probs around £13-14 max all in). May not be the cheapest but I can't be arsed to trundle around looking for a tailor locally. Be interesting to see if they are any cop or not. The trouser hem wasn't much wider than what I want it, it's more up the leg where it devolves into some serious MC Hammer-styling that needs taming! So I hope they make the whole leg a lot slimmer rather than just the opening otherwise it could make for a seriously hideous drop-crotch suit ala Topman. Eek

I know Uniqlo do a service for £2.99, not sure if you take non uniqlo goods in though.

I've got a vintage suede leather lambswool-lined (I think) thick old aviator jacket. It fits alright but I'd quite like to get it a bit more fitted in the chest - anyone know if a) this is possible b) where in London would do a decent job and be affordable? c) how much a service like this might cost?

Ta!

is it possible to take in jeans at the waist?

Also have some chinos which are too big.
Is it possible to get them reduced around the waist and through the thigh?

Anywhere in Central London would be ideal.

crown or cuff Jason? if its a cheap one, I'd get a dry cleaner to do it, if its dear, then a proper tailor's probably better. I use these: http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1197/30545.php

theres nothing the denim doctor cant or wont do to a pair of jeans, but im sure he knows that.
think he cant be arsed to send them off or i cant really see the point in the question. hence nobody answered it.

Wondering this as well -anyone good in central/soho area?. I don't trust dry cleaners.

Also, I've used Denim Doctor for a crotch blowout and his work is great. Very good service and communication as well. Highly recommended.

Franco Santoro (26 Kingly Street) is good but expensive, I'm sure he makes the prices up on the spot! If you get any work done let me know how much it cost please Laughing out loud

I use Franco and is work is spot on - I don't reckon he's particularly expensive either.

As for making up prices on the spot - he probably does. The prices will be variable too - if you use him regularly he'll do you a better price. Both of these are very Italian characteristics - when I lived over there even the bars had variable drink prices - I could drink cheaper in my local bar than a tourist who wandered in off the street.
