some of you well travelled fukers must have been to the city of angels. I'm heading there on Saturday for a week to see the Lakers & Jay Z..then san fran for a couple of days. I'm after some Entourage style tips - nice areas etc.

so far got Urrth Cafe, Bar Marmont and a few other spots but thats it.

Is it mad gay to do a tour of the stars houses? Feel a bit of a tit sittin on a bus getting ferried round them but the real estate'll be awesome. Wouldnt mind seeing the house MJ snuffed it in either

I've been a couple of times, the stars homes tour is really good for giving you a sense of "old Hollywood" (Jimmy Stewart, Johnny Weismuller, Dean Martin, Elvis etc..), the modern stars have their homes behind 15ft stone walls, so you cant see fuck all.

For a night out, its a bit of an LA cliche but you still cant beat a crawl down Sunset strip, start at Miyagis chinese restaurant and work your way all the way down to the Rainbow Room, taking in the house of blues, the Redback Bar, The Whiskey Ago go, and The Viper Room on the way. As you walk down you'll go past loads of extremely expensive out doors restaurants, the first time that I went my mate was hammered and singing Manfield Town football songs as Meryl Streep was trying to eat her dinner (literally walked 2ft away from her).

For star spotting go to Rodeo Drive on a Sunday, on my honeymoon we saw Britney and Anthony Keidis of the Red Hot Chili Pepper shopping together ?!?!

Do a beach tour, Santa Monica is fantastic, amazing place.

Avoid downtown LA, nothing there but crack heads and people who want to kill you.

Try to get a hotel (if you dont already have one) in or near Hollywood, if you dont then you will need a taxi to get anywhere good.

Eat at the Farmers Market, great range of foods all frshly cooked, they have an amazing chili shop, which sells bottles of the worlds hottest chili sauces.

If you do theme parks, then Universal was the best, I say was because it has had a large firse since the last time I was there.

Enjoy, alot of people hate LA, but I thought it was great. A definate city of contrasts.

BTW a couple of days is nowhere near enough to do San Fran, but highlights have to be Alcatraz (amazing), Union Square, China Town, The Palace Of Fine Arts and the Golden Gate Bridge

About half way between LA and SF, just off the coast road, is a place called Hearst Castle, if you get the chance you must visit it, it's the most amazing place, totaly mad but amazing.

The drive from LA to SF is realy good BTW, the coastline is beautifull.

Forgot to mention that the best hamburger in the world is the "double, double", available at the In 'n Out burger on Sunset. As featured in The Big Lebowski.

i've never been, i'm going in july as part of a long trip around the states for 5 months.

I wont have a car...its going to be hell isn't it?

Although i'll be staying with a family friend in venice beach, thats nicer isn't it? and a bit more pedestrian friendly.

its really spread out, but im guessing the people you are staying with will drive
in and out ftw!
got kicked out of minigolf for opening a beer, they are really strict on underage drinking
barneys greengrass restaurant on the top floor is nice and reasonably priced, try and get an outside seat as it has great views
also the standard hotel restaurant is cool, has a swimming pool on the roof too!

You'll be surprised, Venice Beach boardwalk is a shithole, full of homeless and hippies. Santa Monica is 5 minutes up the coast and is beautiful.

the family said they (or someone they know) is willing to drive us about a bit so we wont be stuck in venice beach which is cool.

as for underage drinking, i guess i need to sort myself out with fake i.d. a.s.a.p.

as i was a well behaved youngster so i have no knowledge of good places to get them.
silly question but, any younger fuks got reccomendations?

I don't know what they would do about the fake ID, but if they catch you drinking/drunk underage you are in serious shit.

I lived in an apartment complex that was used by college students too, the manager told me under no circumstances to give the kids alcohol or get it for them, if I did and they grassed me up I could go to prison.

They are beyond strict about this.

i was in milwaukee with my mate and he was 3 days before his 21st, we were sitting on a pavement restaraunt eating a meal and he had a sip of my budwieser cos he'd finished his lemonade. a five o spotted it and shot him straight in the face.
ruined my holiday and the rest of my lunch i can tell you that for nothing.

They probably shot him for drinking Budweiser in Miller country.
