APC Jeans Fit Guide

New Standard: Essentially “the standard” jean, regular fit in the rise/waist, with a straight leg, tapering only slightly from the knee to hem.

New Cure: The New Cure is the low rise, skinny jean of the group. Unlike the New Standard, the New Cure tapers from the thigh to hem, making a much more narrow silhouette.

Petite Standard: The Petite Standard is essentially a combination of the New Standard and the New Cure. Think of this as a slimmer New Standard with a lower rise like the New Cure.

SIZING

One of the key things to getting a pair of APC jeans is picking the correct size. Usually, people size down 1-2 sizes from their normal size. The reason for this is raw denim will stretch out once worn for a few times.

CARE

APC are raw (also called dry) jeans, which basically means they have not been washed after dyed. This means that when you try them on, they will feel slightly stiff. This is the nature of raw denim. The appeal with raw denim is that over time, they fade and wear onto your body, essentially making your pair completely unique and personal.

The best way to get a great pair of APC’s that fit perfectly and are faded and creased to your body is to WEAR THEM! Most recommend not washing them for at least 6 months so that the fabric has time to set in and mold to you. By waiting, when it comes time to wash you will get more denim fades and a more personal look. However, you can always throw them in the wash first thing and have them come out soft and a more even, relaxed color. Always wash by itself as there will be a lot of indigo that bleeds off the jeans in the wash.

is it because the denim is stiffer and more coarse than topman denim? my main gripe is the stitching quality is pretty piss poor. I do cycle in mine errry day tho

Anyone confirm that petit standards are not vanity sized anymore?

I take 31s in nudie - was going to go for a 30 in the PS

I think so, one of the guys in Son of a Stag said it's when you don't wash them at all that the crotches blow quickly as it won't have softened as it does when washed.

Not sure if serious - will 30 in a PS definitely be too big if I take a 31 in preshrunk nudies? I'm not looking them to be super slim/skinny but concerned they will end up too big in the waist..

Im a 34 in prewashed nudies and fitted into a pair of well worn 31 Petit Standards. They were proper skinny though and will be making their way to the classifieds soon.

So in answer to your question get a size 29.

I've found that black overdyed petit standards tend to stretch out far less than the indigo versions. Mine also tore at the crotch after one wash, whilst the indigo versions remained intact.

I sized down by two on both versions.

Got a pair of PS from oi polloi the other day, tagged 28 and measured 14 inches (1 side). Still have to size down though due to the stretch.

to switch it up a little.. does anybody know a site where i can check out some of the tips that jean gives on wearing denim? ive heard him talk about "an old rocker trick": rubbing cigarette ashes into yer jeans then rubbing your hands thru yer hair and rubbing yer hair grease over that.. not saying that id actually do this.. i just think itd be an interesting read and maybe some of what he has to say id find useful.

read off sufu Smiling

Found the black overdyed proper crap quality. Same issue after one wash, 6 months of wear.

The denim is definitely a lighter weight denim for the over dyed black ps compared to the indigo. I've had my over dyed black ps for a year now, sized down 3 (probably 2 because I'd lost weight around then), pretty much lived in them 24/7 the poor bastards, they've received 3 soaks in woolite and have only recently acquired a slight whole where my wallet goes and some wear where my iPhone resides. The creases don't fade like the indigo denim thank fuck, but I'm not sure what you're all doing with them...you're going wrong somewhere as mine have been through a lot of shit (not literal) and are still going strong. csb.

They say 'Fuck Em' on the back. How am I supposed to wear them without being 12? Laughing out loud

in regards to the overdyes: dya reckon it's best to give it a liiiiittle soak in woolite first to make it less stiff and thereby no premature blowout?
