APC Jeans Fit Guide

New Standard: Essentially “the standard” jean, regular fit in the rise/waist, with a straight leg, tapering only slightly from the knee to hem.

New Cure: The New Cure is the low rise, skinny jean of the group. Unlike the New Standard, the New Cure tapers from the thigh to hem, making a much more narrow silhouette.

Petite Standard: The Petite Standard is essentially a combination of the New Standard and the New Cure. Think of this as a slimmer New Standard with a lower rise like the New Cure.

SIZING

One of the key things to getting a pair of APC jeans is picking the correct size. Usually, people size down 1-2 sizes from their normal size. The reason for this is raw denim will stretch out once worn for a few times.

CARE

APC are raw (also called dry) jeans, which basically means they have not been washed after dyed. This means that when you try them on, they will feel slightly stiff. This is the nature of raw denim. The appeal with raw denim is that over time, they fade and wear onto your body, essentially making your pair completely unique and personal.

The best way to get a great pair of APC’s that fit perfectly and are faded and creased to your body is to WEAR THEM! Most recommend not washing them for at least 6 months so that the fabric has time to set in and mold to you. By waiting, when it comes time to wash you will get more denim fades and a more personal look. However, you can always throw them in the wash first thing and have them come out soft and a more even, relaxed color. Always wash by itself as there will be a lot of indigo that bleeds off the jeans in the wash.

How much will a crotch repair and taper cost from The Doc on a pair of APCs these days? I'm sure I've paid £20/25 for crotch only in the past.

If you're London based, Son Of Stag (Shoreditch) does a good job for £15.

Used to live in Manchester so I've compared both, they seem about the same.
Denim Doc far better for bigger jobs, tapering etc.

They look good likephenomenon. What was your process to get them looking like this? how long did you leave them before the first wash etc?

Edit: piss take on the price raise. The APC store in shoreditch has full stock last time I was in (2 weeks ago)

Was in Liberty today and the new season APC denim was the usual £115/£125, one of the fits (think it was New Standard) was only £85 for the raw indigo Puzzled

Not sure if it's the New Standard, it may have been Rescue, it just wasn't the Petit Standard basically is all I remember.

Oh and that pair of black Petit Standard on Mr Porter for £195 is a seasonal denim, dry denim, just been on the APC site and it's part of the resort collection not their mainline denim, so I don't think they're denim is going up. The regular raw black denim petit standard is still it's usual price, so I don't think we need to get our knickers in a twist about APC doing an Acne on us.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but APC denim has been going up in price for years now. The next increase is inevitable, and the normal apcs are dry denim.

is it normal when sizing down 2 in ns not to be able to do up the top two buttons?

i've got a few pairs of apc sized down 2 that fit me well, but all bought second hand. so i know these jeans should fit me, unless the sizing has changed that is.

sizings gone true. so now you got a pair two sizes too small.

seems to be a lot of uncertainty over whether the sizing has actually changed though.

Even though it's highly unlikely because most stores sold out in PS and NS pretty fast, some of them could still have some old batch still in stock, who knows...emailing the store and asking them could clear some doubts.

Anyway, i would go for a second hand pair at the moment Puzzled

Bit of an odd question, but whats the usual sale price of APC black, non raw jeans? Is £70 good for a pair of PS blacks?

I've got a pair of black NS (not the over dyed ones and are non selvage) and I've had them since November last year. I've hardly worn them but do they stretch as much as the indigos? These are pretty tight all round.

in my experience, apc's and diors, non indigos always seem to stretch less. maybe different denim? idk

Petit Standards at Mr Porter - anyone know if they are TTS? Ordered recently?

Thinking of copping a pair before the price hike.

Doesn't it say on MrP if they've gone TTS?

It says 'Fits true to seize' but I believe there for some confusion over whether that really was the case.

Thinking I should perhaps size down 1 anyway.
