came out in the states yesterday,I would wait a month and buy once the hype dies down if you really want a first gen,otherwise bar queing up you will just pay over the odds for something that will be out of date in 6months once apple iron out some of their 'deliberate' design mistakes to make you 'need' a 2nd gen |

I have a feeling the iPad will have a refresh date of 12 months, like the iPhone. But to be honest I'd rather wait til' the 3rd or 4th iteration, this first gen is complete balls, I have no idea why anyone would waste money on it. |

There doesn't seem to be as much hype over this as there was with the iPhone. Apple will update it in 6 months and by the time the 3rd gen comes out it will have a camera and more functionality |

Apple will update it in 6 months and by the time the 3rd gen comes out it will have a camera and more functionality there is a lot of hype in the US, at least as much as with the iphone. they'll probably update them every year like they do with the iphone, barely changing the hardware and releasing the software to the first gen at the same time. plus its just been jailbroken.... |

I don't get the iPad. It's too big to carry around with all the time, so when "on the move" I still have to use my smartphone. Then when I'm at home I'll just use my laptop as it does everything an iPad can do and more. It doesn't even work as an e-reader as it's a normal LCD display so it'll give you a cracking headache staring at it all day. So when do I use my iPad? When I'm in some coffee shop looking cool and tutting at all this yuppy types on their laptops. God, they are so corporate whores. Not like me, I'm just a brand whore. Sorry, I just don't get it. |

it removes the limitations apple put on it by default, meaning you can run whatever software people write for it, even if apple havent approved it |
