Are the BNP now a mainstream party?

Just read an article in the paper suggesting the BNP r going to make substantial inroads in "Middle England" and possibly even Scotland in the next election? Stay clear of politics myself, but have they now become a mainstream political party or still marginalised on the extremist fringes? |

They are portraying an image that is basically the old conservative one now Cameron has taken them as central as labour. BNP policies are all just generally slightly right wing, but at heart they are still a bunch of skinhead fascists. |

They seem to have become a protest vote against what people see as inadequate policies from the current government and with the other main parties not been far away in terms of offering an alternative many people may well register this by voting BNP. Guess we'll see. |

They will never be a mainstream party if this country continues to use First Past the Post for Westminster elections. The only reason they have councillors in some towns is due to the use of PR. |

Theres always some news story about BNP this and BNP that from some paper or news station because it gets people all hot and bothered and journalists have something to report on. I also reckon they will never be a mainstream party. |

BNP are fucked up! In no way are they a mainstream party. they only portray themselves as this in the media to attract extra coverage! Only dumb people would even contemplate voting for them! |

The BNP, as anyone with half a braincell realises, is just a minor "political" party. They just get more press coverage than others of a similar level because "kicking out them bloody immigrants" sells more papers than the "will sit in bath of beans" policies of the Monster Raving Loony Party. |

Remember when UKIP were going to make massive inraods? And they got fuck all. Thats what will happen with the BNP. They get a few council seats cos nobody really gives a shit about those elections, but theyll not get any MPs any time soon. |

Slightly off topic One of the funniest things ive seen in my life involves the bnp they came round to the house when the last elections where on asking for votes i whent to the door he started gabbing on about this & that then my mate pete came to see who it was the worm whent as white snow then did one p/s petes black & he's a big lad . funniest thing ive ever seen |

I was in Liverpool with an ex of mine (who is Asian) and outside the student union was a group of people trying to get people to sign a petition against the BNP. She turns to me and says "The BNP, what are they all about? Do you think I should sign this?" |
