what are you proud of about being in this country,. and be patriotic about what is it that you love and we as a nation have to hang on to? or are somone people just patriotically drunk and are leading them selfs blind as there is nothing left to be proud of anymore... i believe we are a nation hanging onto a romantasised version of what we think is british, we have been misled. what do we as a nation try to keep alight that patriotic feeling. we are essentially a watered down sess pit of bullshitters... but im very interested on everyone elses poit of view on this as there are lots of people from all over here so everyone has different experiences and upbringings. WHAT ARE WE??? i really really would like to know, what everyone thinks seriously. |

i feel strongly about this too mate and my views are fucking ancient compared to the fucking tree hugging student pricks i have/do work with.. so many wrongs in this country its untrue and i dont think you will get many good awnsers here as it is mostly middle class nice upbringing crowd (no diss) im from a good working class family and you can see the effects of ths state of this country by looking at for an example my grandad..owned his own company delivering turf for 40+ years and he is straight as an arrow paid his taxes to the penny etc etc and then u see his pension and hear his phonecalls about getting a few extra quid as my nan cant walk anymore and it makes me furious !!! just one example as i could ramble all day this country is slowing going to absoloute pot |

Well its your duty to do something about it in the next election I guess I better appologise incase Im accused of being anything "ist" Are we allowed to be patriotic anymore ? I thought these days being proud to be English or British was racist or xenophobic . What I love is the British way to say things like they are without any of this PC bullshit . |

im thinking smaller... than all this,. what about things that the old boys are proud to be british for... well we cant be proud to own half the world anymore cause that aint the case, but things like proud that i dont know the yorkshire pudding is ours.. for instance.. but,.. what im trying to get AT what are we meant to be proud OF .. like NOW???? ....i cant think of anything |

I'm proud to be British and born in a country that has given the oppurtunity for those in other less unfortunate areas of the world a chance to live a better and healthier life. The country is great, it's just that people there are way too many people who abuse the trust and help it is willing to give. I was born here but my parents are from Philippines so yeah, coming from a third world country and into a first world country earning and working for the things they have is fantastic. I think the best part of it for them was my bro's and I got a good education (well they did) so we don't have to struggle as much. Still though, some of you 'propah' Bri'ish people are crazy and funny. |

mate i think this whole patriotic thing is bollocks. my parents are not from this country so i am lucky in the fact i can associate with two very different countries. the thing is we are so intelligent as a species now we need to stop this "my country" shit and realise we are all ONE and should act as a world rather than nations! its this "my country" attitude which creates wars and alienation. no one country is better than another they all have faults so lets join together as its not just this country going down the drain ITS THE WHOLE WORLD! |

I'm proud to be from Yorkshire, so I guess I'm proud to be English by default. I'll be celebrating St Georges day with my mates, like we do every year. I don't think loving your country makes you a xenophobe, I like other countries too. |

so everyones proud to live in quite a safe country where we do get treated well with good education compared to the rest of the world ,..this is true how about... thinking more small mindedly,....(you're right berk this could be hard)... what boils your bollocks as it were and would you be proud enough to wear the three lions on your chest as a tattoo,.. or do english football supports have more passion than the players seemingly .. even they dont give a fuck anymore about saving face and pride .. pride is a word that always comes to mind about england,.. but what is it to be proud OF.. its a pussy these days.. and gets walked all over |
