Sorry for creating a topic that may sink like a lead balloon, but I was wondering if anyone else here plays/watches basketball, after the slight discussion in the Just seen about Kobe.

I wish I had picked up the Garnett top in classifieds a few months back but I couldn't cheat on Orlando. Smiling

Discuss.

Didn't want to see Alston go though

I was big into basketball back in my youth. I was a tiny kid, but took inspiration from Mugsy Bogues and Spudd Webb, and dreamed of one day running point in the NBA. What a naive little shithead I was.

I lost interest towards the late 90's, and I think the last full game I watched was probably that one when Jordan won the championship at the last second against Utah, for the second year in a row. Nowadays I just can't be bothered with the sport: all the pauses and timeouts and ad breaks, the over-commercialisation.

In contrast to the music thread, I must agree.

What about T-Mac second in the All Star polls for the West starting guard? He hasn't played a full game for 3 years iirc. Laughing out loud

I know its ridiculous. The Allstar break is a joke anyway has been since players were precluded from sporting their stripes. Mcgrady is a household name, so he attracts votes. Plus with Yao out, all the Chinamen vote for him. More deserving players like my boy Brandon Roy get snubbed. Allstars should be decided purely on merit. But fans wanna see highlight reel. Coaches do have a say - so under the radar guys like Roy still get recognised.

Isn't the bench picked by coaches AND players?

I liked the 1996 all star uniforms from San Antonio.

Yeah T-Macs on his way out anyway was talk of him going back to Orlando but I'd say he's too old and of course the injuries. It would be on the leagues minimum salary if it happens.

You think T-Mac will take the leagues minimum salary? He's being paid a good wage in Houston for doing nothing. If T-Mac is playing in Orlando it will definitely not be on minimum salary. Think he'd rather retire than be the lowest paid player in the league.

Isn't it age dependent?

Who was it complaining about shit players being on a massive wage packet and he was on the minimum?

It was starbury actually. Just remembered.
