Where are you staying shithot? There is a multitude of cheap hostels of a very high standard.

Visit the tv tower, the Olympic Stadium and the Holocaust Memorial.

Checkpoint charlie and the massive synagogue were a little boring I thought.

Food and drink is dirt cheap too, make sure to try the beer flavoured with syrup!

Great city, you'll have a fantastic time.

Brilliant for clubs. I went to Maria http://www.clubmaria.de/index2.html and Weekend which is on the 13th floor of an office block http://www.week-end-berlin.de/
Food was really varied all over the city and dirt cheap.

Think Rira done an expansive report on Berlin years ago, dunno wether or not it will be relevant.

Would've loved to go to a game there as the crowds in Germany are meant to be brilliant, they still have terracing and you can drink throughout the game Cool

Not sure of your age or your budget, but for a hostel I can't recommend The Circus highly enough. Looks like a cool hotel when you walk in the door, and the rooms are spacious and no bunks (at least none in mine). Got a bar downstairs, and a cafe right next door that seems to do special prices for hostel users.

From what I can remember it's in E. Berlin where the nightlife is, unless it's moved elsewhere in the last few years. Can't remember much about the nightlife, as I'm not much into techno, but if you're at the hostel I'm sure they can point you in the right direction. Was down there over the film festival, bloody freezing and snow. Would be nice to see it in the spring/summer.

I never normally bother with guided tours but this is worth doing imo.

We did the free (tip if you want) city tour with these which was really good, took you round the major sites and gave you a good history lesson etc, worth doing if you just want to get your bearings in the city. We also did the tour to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp which is well worth doing - that one you had to pay for but it wasn't much. They also offer other paid tours which sounded interesting but we didnt have time to do.

i also did the same tour, it was very good - the guy was a phd student from harvard or somewhere and was super intelligent and a very good guide. It only take 3 hours or so and is worth it.

i personally hated berlin, the place seemed soleless, grey and depressing but i feel as if i should give it a second chance

St Christophers Inn do some wicked 2 bedroom apartments for a great price. Or go private... Don't forget to check out Firmament, Wood wood, Apartment and the CDG guerilla store, which I think is still there.

XII Apostle pizza place is definitely worth checking out. They do lovely freshly made pizzas.

There's a small cafe near the APC store which do the best meatballs ever... here's a photo of them;
