You've had the benefits of the insurance...

Point was that I wasn't covered for a pre-existing medical condition so the insurance was invalid if I'd have been signed off work for that. The onus was on them when selling it to make me aware that I knew that and they didnt. With hindsight I should have checked too, but as an 18 yr old all I could see was the $$$.

I'm not trying to get in an argument, I just think it's amusing that you're taking the moral high ground when you probably told them you wanted a loan for a car when you actually wanted the money to get pissed and have a lads holiday. And secondly, I think it's funny that banks are being punished for fiddling this money out of people but it's perfectly alright for solicitors to be raking in the money by putting these spurious claims in

Sorry, not trying to argue & not trying to take a moral highground either, was only meaning to say what my claim was based on.

HSBC hands up admitted they were at fault when selling PPI and put aside a pot of money to pay for peoples claims, heard about it on the radio so I thought - if I've got a valid claim, why not make it.

Not trying to say they were bad for misleading me, as I was partly at fault too. In essence all it is is a refund of a poilcy that was invalid anyway?

Of course you should make the claim for some free money and like I said, I'm just jealous that I won't be getting any, but I don't think it's rightfully yours, that's all

Best: M&S have 20% off sofas, a deal of buy 2 and get 20% off was meant to end to end yesterday but its still showing on the website so got them to honour both discounts so saved nearly 500 quid all in Cool

Worst: inventory company have picked up on tiny things wrong with the flat. We left it spotless Evil

Reasonable wear and tear is allowed so you might not get charged for those things, even if they have noted them. You will at least be able to argue that it's wear and tear if they do try and charge you. My ex girlfriends sister moved recently and the company that managed the property were writing stuff down like cobwebs! It probably did mention cobwebs in their agreement, as it does in mine, but she got the full deposit back in the end

Some stuff they noted as wear and tear and some as tenants responsibility. The flat was brand new when they took the original pics so it's never going to look as good! The report is with the land lord so waiting to hear!

Your deposit should be protected by the Tenancy Deposit Scheme - http://www.tds.gb.com/

Don't accept the charges and get the TDS involved if you have to. I'm sure the agents will cave in when they know you're not gonna just accept the charges

Once had a couple of k deposit held over missing forks and a broken plate, took ages to resolve as the owners were in antartica. Bummer when you need another deposit for a new rent.

I took out a 8k loan 5 years ago with hsbc, sure I had PPI, paid it back in 3 months (work bonus) so not sure I would have much to claim back? £200 quid at most, dont have any paper work left though long since shredded.
