On January 21st 2010 The Big Swish arrives in London for a charitable swishing celebration at Tiger Tiger in W1. The Big Swish launched on the eve of National Clothes Swapping Week (September 18-22 2009) with an event in Leeds. It's a national roadshow organised by the clothes/accessories and household items swapping website, The Big Wardrobe. The event kicks off at 6pm with ethical pop-up shops, then at 6.30pm guests will have the opportunity to drop off up to 15 items of clothing/accessories and for every item donated, guests get to choose a fellow swappers' wares to take home. There will be live music by Phoenix Rose at 7.30pm and then at 8pm there will be a live auction of clothes in aid of Breast Cancer Care. There will also be an introduction by hosts Big Wardrobe and Daisy Green Magazine. The swishing begins at 8.30pm. Any items left over are donated to Cancer Research for sale in their shops nationwide. In the UK nearly 2 million tonnes of clothing and shoes go into to landfill sites, so swishing events such as these are not only a great way to have a good evening, they also mean that you get to swap those items from your wardrobe you no longer wear, for ones you will wear. Tickets cost £5 in advance, £7 on the door. More info at www.bigwardrobe.com. We have three pairs to give away - just sign up below if you're interested. First come, first served. |
