Bird Breeding

Was on my way to a swimming pool earlier today, and had this idea come to me, which has me excited and curious. What I would like to do is somehow breed some birds, probably just pigeons as they would be easy to round up and would be totally free, and raise them to enjoy sitting on rails. One method might be to gently heat the rails so that they develop a liking to the warmth, and somehow perhaps associate it with their enfancy..? Purpose being then, once a decent enough sized flock has been established have some skateboarders come around, and then start up a game to try and knock the birds off the rails while performing various grind maneuvers. Would be tricky at first, but it is the type of thing that would snowball pretty quickly once the proper technique for training the birds has been mastered to a t.

Based on his latest post he could well just be on a crack ridden downward spiral into insanity, and that pigeon post could be complete bollocks too.

Laughing out loud that's great. i'd assume you tweak their diet to make them lighter and more energetic? so by practical logic, you could feed them the inverse to create a flock of lazy pigeons that just want to sit around all day. what does he give to them anyway?

Laughing out loud

What it is right, is that i am working two 12 hour shifts with a guy this weekend who is BIG in the pigeon game. So he told me a bit about it.

Risky as a buisness but the sounds of it, but he makes a shit loaf of it.However he lost a bird last year that never came home after a race. He was offered 30 grand for this pigeon only a week earlier and turned it down. Gutted.

A pigeon flew into where I work once, walked around and fucked off. 1 year later the same thing happened. Must have been the same one.

Laughing out loud you laugh, but after hearing about how much this guy makes from it as a hobby (50,000k +) I have actually thought about getting a small keep for a few of em to give it ago.

Out of curiosity... where does one keep £30,000 pigeons? It'd have to be some sort of vault with laser beams n shit, no?

I dont know, but its in an alarmed rig i know this much.
But as i understand it, they are all ringed at birth, so if you stole it it would be hard to get it re done without rainsng alarms. Also he reckons he could spot his bird that went missing out of 1000's?
But he doesnt rule out theft for re breeding, just more likely a hawk got it.

Well there is that Laughing out loud

But if you trap them and keep em in you can just breed them.
He hasnt rulled out this chance and it getting lose and coming home some time. But it would be funny to imagine a 30'000 pigeon is just lost in some city somewhere bouncing of flaskets skateboard.

Then why on earth would people pay ridiculous amounts of money to buy them? Does the pigeon say "Aw fuck, I was bought fair and square so I guess this is my new home"?
