Wouldn't bother with a hotel - plenty of excellent cafes around, try to pick one that's run by Italians as they do the best full englishes.

If you are in the West End, just wander around Old Compton st or any of Soho really. If you are lucky enough to be in the East then head to the legendary E Pellici on Bethnal Green Road.

Valerie Patisserie on Old Compton Street is one of the best patisserie/cafes in London.

Never eaten in there myself, but often pick up croissants, danishs and there amazing cakes for people at work.
