Buying property in London

So I'm looking at buying property in london and need some help on where to buy, as it's a bit different to where you'd rent.

Got 250k(ish)(too little?) and looking for a 3bed, property.

I want to be as central as possible, trying to work out how far i'll have to go to find something okay, as that's the hole ideal in living in london really, don't want a house in the outskirts. Want to live somewhere with a bit of life or close to life, east, Islington(what's it like there). Don't want to live west or north west or south really(maybe brixton?), no reason to live that way. Probably looking for somewhere in an up and coming area with a growing life. Need good tube connections and what forth. No ghetto or tower hamlets. A terraced row house would be awesome, not so keen on ex-council flat block, but will get one if it's best location/area wise and actually nice.

So would anyone be able to help with location wise? A bit more exact than just east?

Also any good websites to look on for property or estate agents?

Big thanks.

you said that about tottenham as well. Smiling

tottenham's the last 'central' area that's yet to be 'taken'. it will happen.

brixton's been a middle class ghetto for years. it's still proper london though. i treat it like a theme park. i go for the occasional night out there cos all sorts of entertaining things happen and come home £200 lighter Cool

I'm banking on totenham coming up, we shall see, I like it here can see why others don't though.. but in my opinion best place you can buy a house in london with good travel links (central and Hammersmith/jubilee dont count as good lines as always fucked at weekends) for 250k ish

we see I guess

Thats my budget, be better to get a house rather than a 1 bed flat in the long term flats around kignston are £235 to 250k at the moment, need to see how work stabilises over the next year in terms of income. Good to know you can get a house still for that kind of cash somewhere (half decent) in london.

brixton fair enough.. but sorry tottenham aint happening anytime soon.
that whole of north london up from walthamstow and seven sisters road up to manor house is a complete dog hole, nothing but chicken shops. how can you redevelop a place full of estates? its surrounded by nice areas so where will the pikeys go?
